February is usually all about love, flowers, cards, chocolate, and heart-shaped everything. But this month, I’ve been thinking about a different kind of love: loving where you live.
Not in a “perfect house, magazine-worthy kitchen” kind of way… but in the real-life, everyday way.
The kind where you know which floorboard creaks, you have a favorite spot to drink your coffee, your kids’ backpacks always land in the same corner, and you’ve made memories in every room. That’s the kind of “home love” that doesn’t show up in photos, but it matters the most.
Home Isn’t About Square Footage
After being in so many homes over the years, one thing is always clear: the happiest homes aren’t always the biggest, newest, or most expensive. They’re the ones that feel lived in. They’re full of routines, traditions, inside jokes, and small moments that add up over time. It’s movie nights on the couch. Homework at the kitchen counter. Quick chats before rushing out the door. That’s what turns a house into your place.
Small Ways to Reconnect With Your Space
If your home has started to feel more “busy” than “cozy” lately (which happens to all of us), here are a few simple ways to bring some of that love back:
Clear one surface. Just one.
Add something that makes you smile: a photo, candle, or plant.
Open the windows for fresh air when you can.
Rearrange one small area for a mini refresh.
No renovation required. 😊
And If You’re Outgrowing Your Home…
For some people, loving where you live also means recognizing when a space no longer fits your life the way it used to. Maybe your needs have changed. Maybe maintenance feels like “a lot.” Maybe you’re dreaming of something simpler. That’s normal. Life changes.
